Your Royal Highnesses, Your Excellencies, enhancing border
management capabilities is also a crucial part of IOM’s work in
facilitating safe human mobility while maintaining border security
for the concerned countries. IOM has been actively involved in
supporting capacity-building initiatives in border management
with various governments in the Arab region.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has implemented numerous
pioneering initiatives in reform and development, particularly in
the areas of border management, migrant labor, environmental
reform, climate change, and others. These initiatives align with the
Saudi Vision 2030, strengthening its leading role in the international
system.
I also commend the exceptional relationships IOM has with
several ministries and entities within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
notably including the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, King
Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and the Human Rights
Commission.
The cooperation and coordination between IOM and NAUSS have
been firmly established since the signing of the Memorandum
of Understanding in 2011, renewed in 2019. This MoU reflects the
prominent role NAUSS played since its establishment in 1978 in
various fields such as higher education, scientific research, and
training in security areas. Additionally, it highlights its leading role
as the scientific body of the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
As a testament to this distinguished relationship, a technical
cooperation agreement was officiallysigned between IOM and NAUSS
